The Washington Valor play their final game of the regular season Saturday, July 7 at 3 p.m. at Capital One Arena, taking on the Baltimore Brigade for the fourth time this season. The last time the Brigade took on the Valor in D.C., Baltimore fell by just a point, 42-41.
VALOR PLAYER TO WATCH:
WR Doug McNeil III
– Signed on June 27, McNeil played in his first game for the Valor last weekend against the Empire, hauling in two touchdowns on his only two receptions of the game. McNeil, listed at 6’3” and 210 pounds, provides an added threat in both short-yardage and jump ball situations.
BRIGADE PLAYER TO WATCH:
WR Quentin Sims
– Sims leads the Brigade with 14 touchdown receptions and ranks second on the team in both receptions (51) and receiving yards (518). Sims hauled in a six-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to go along with his team-high 11 receptions and 122 receiving yards. In his last outing against Washington, Sims caught six passes, two for touchdowns.
MATCHUP TO WATCH:
WAS QB Arvell Nelson vs. BAL DBs
– Nelson has thrown for 1,262 yards and 22 touchdowns in his five games with Washington. With 303 passing yards against Albany last weekend, Nelson became just the second quarterback to record multiple 300-yard games this season, joining Soul quarterback Shane Austin. Nelson threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns in his only matchup with the Brigade this season. Across the line of scrimmage, Nelson will face off against a trio of Brigade defensive backs – Virgil Gray, Joe Powell and Clevan Thomas – who have led the Brigade defense to the second-most interceptions and lowest yards per attempt average in the league this season. Gray leads the league with 65 total tackles and ranks third with three interceptions. Powell ranks T-2 with four interceptions this season.
